Radiesse : New Longer Lasting Injectable Filler Offers More Options for Aesthetic Improvement
The Skin Center Medical Spa now offers Radiesse , the new injectable filler offering significant improvement and lasting results for facial wrinkles and imperfect noses.

/Dermatology News Articles/ - PITTSBURGH, PA, March 10, 2007 - The evolution of injectable dermal fillers is at the dawn of a new age - first there was collagen, then there was hyaluronic acid, and now there's Radiesse - newly approved by the FDA. With its advanced calcium-based microsphere technology, Radiesse stimulates new collagen production to restore or add volume to the face for a natural, more youthful look that's longer lasting than other dermal fillers.

In addition to being a longer-lasting filler for deep facial folds and wrinkles, Radiesse is also widely used in non-surgical nose contouring. The unique, long-lasting properties of Radiesse make it an ideal solution to instantly straighten a cooked nose, add symmetry and uplift a drooping tip. While the results are not permanent, it is certainly a great solution to correct problem areas when surgery is not a viable option.

Radiesse works by supplementing the skin's own depleted collagen and stimulating new collagen production in and around the treatment area, which encourages longer-lasting results. Radiesse is made of very small, smooth calcium hydroxylapitite microspheres, which are suspended in a water-based gel. Calcium hydroxylapitite is a mineral component that occurs naturally in our bones and teeth, essentially eliminating the risk of an allergic reaction.

"Many of my clients loved the results we achieved with injectable dermal fillers, but they were discouraged by the number of times repeat injections were needed to maintain the results - about every four to six months - depending of the filler we used," said Dr. Dominic Brandy, MD, medical director of The Skin Center Medical Spa with locations in Pennsylvania and Ohio. "Radiesse really meets the needs of my clients who want longer-lasting results but fewer treatments. One treatment of Radiesse lasts a year or longer depending on the area being treated. I think that is a positive benefit for many of my clients."

Over time, your body will absorb the gel and in its place will be your own, naturally formed collagen and tissue. Radiesse continues to provide the support and structure for your body to grow new tissue and collagen until it is safely and naturally absorbed into your body, about one year after your initial treatment.
